Flippers Fish and Chips

Flippers Fish and Chips

Flippers fish and chip restaurant is located on the main road towards Catalkoy, just before the Lemar supermarket. It has a large car park as well as small outside decked seating area and small indoor seating area. Flippers is open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm.

All food is cooked fresh from frozen while you wait. The cod and haddock is imported from Iceland and fried in a homemade batter mix. The decor of the restaurant is basic, with plastic tables and chairs as you would imagine in any fish and chip shop in the UK.

The fish menu consists of cod, haddock, calamari, fish cakes and cod roe. You can choose between regular or large size, however large really does mean large and I find it is normally too much for one person to eat. Prices for the fish meals are generally between 6TL (approx. £2.5) and 14TL (approx. £5.50). Also available on the menu are delicious homemade pies including steak and kidney, mince beef and onion, chicken and mushroom or Cornish pasty, prices are from 4TL (approx. £1.50) to 7TL (approx. £2.80). Battered sausage, burgers, saveloy’s, and chicken are also available. Side orders include chips, onion rings, pickled eggs, pickled onions, mushy peas, beans and gravy – everything you could possibly want from your local fish and chip shop!

I have had a few takeaways from Flippers which have all been excellent. At first the reviews for the restaurant were not very good, however they have taken all comments on board and the fish and chips served here are one of the best in North Cyprus. The batter is light and fluffy and the chips just right, and most importantly, the food is still hot when you get home. Beer, wine and hot drinks are also available. If you choose to eat in, there is a 4TL (approx. £1.60) surcharge per person.
